Ramji retires from the army after 2 years and the whole family moves to Dapoli which is situated in Ratnagiri district of Maharashtra.
Originally Bhima was admitted to the school at the age of 5, but it became difficult for the entire family to survive on the meager army pension Ramji received when some of Ramji’s friends found jobs for him in Satara. How Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar became an outstanding scholar.
Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar luck was not good in some respects. But a teacher of the school liked him very much. His name was Krishna ji Keshav Ambedkar, he recognized Bhim’s potential and praised and encouraged his good work, it was he who changed Bhim’s last name to his surname, earlier in school Bhim’s surname was his father’s Sakpal. Was on Bhima also missed his mother very much. In such a situation, he wanted to run away from here to Mumbai and for this he decided to steal his aunt’s purse. At last, when he got the purse in his hand, only one coin came out in it. This made him very disappointed.
He put the coin back and promised himself that he would do very well in his studies and reach a very high position and soon he earned everyone’s praise for his hard work and won the hearts of all the teachers. On the advice of teachers for the best education of son Bhima, Ramji along with his family comes back to Mumbai. Here one has to live in one area where the poorest of the poor used to live and that too in a small room. Bhim is able to get admission in one of the best schools in India, Elphinstone High School at an early age. Due to excessive noise in that colony, Bhimrao used to study, so Bhim used to sleep after coming from school and then!
Ramji used to wake him up at 2:00 in the morning. Everything was calm at that time and Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar could do his homework and studies in peace. The big city where Bhimrao lives finds that he is still called untouchable and untouchable as if he is very different and spoiled. Even in his famous school this used to happen. One day the teacher called him to the black board to solve the problem. On this all the other boys of the class stood up and started showing their displeasure as the tiffins of other children were kept behind the black board. Believed that Bhima would contaminate their food and when Bhima wanted to learn Sanskrit, it is said that he was not allowed to learn Sanskrit, he learned Sanskrit by himself, meanwhile, at the age of 17 Bhima was the first person to do so from the matriculation community. Early marriage was customary at that time, so Bhima was married. Continuing his hard work in studies, he passed the intermediate examination with distinction, but now Ram ji was feeling unable to pay the school fees in front of him.
A well-wisher i.e. Maharaja Gaekwad of Baroda donated Bhima’s amount to Shahu Maharaj and awarded him a ministerial scholarship. With this scholarship, he completed his B.A. in 1912. Passed. And after that he is given a job in the civil service but he has to go back after two weeks because Ram ji fell very ill and died after some time. Bhimrao got a chance to move forward in 1913, the Maharaja of Baroda started a team under which some of the best scholars were sent abroad, in which Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar was also selected. They had to sign an agreement according to which these barodas were to serve for 10 years after clarifying their position.
Opportunity to study at the world famous Columbia University in New York. Got it, his main subject was Arthashastra and Economics. After this he left the pen and went to England and joined the London School of Economics. Before the completion of the course, Ko had to leave London because the scholarship given by Baroda State was over, Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar has to wait for 3 years. First of all he goes to London and completes his studies.
He gets a good job in Baroda but his staff used to ignore him, used to keep files on his desk but no one was ready to hand over files to him, his office used to let him drink water. Giving respect is a distant thing and because of his work, Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar had to go to many hotels to get a room. But no one is ready to give it to them, they end up in a very uncomfortable situation in the Parsi guest house where they stay and that too when they have decided to keep their cast a secret. Bhimrao ji was expecting that he would not be so insulted. But he was wrong.
But before that 1 day in the morning when he was leaving for work. A gang of angry people was standing outside him, they said that he should leave from here. And threatens to leave from here by evening, otherwise what would Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar do in such a situation and there is no other option, only after that he had to return to Mumbai in 12 working days. But he started a business giving investment advice to people and tried to start it in Mumbai, but he would fail as soon as the client came to know about his cast. Defiance and disdain were being faced everywhere.
He got a job as a teacher in a collage, he performed well. They were helped to fight for their rights. He used to organize conferences and fight for Dalits because he felt that there is a need to campaign on the screen of Dalits and fight for their equal rights. His own life made him realize the importance of this struggle. He managed to return to London in 1920 and completed his barrister studies there.
Mix doctorate degree come back to India with doctorate degree from this world famous institute and maybe already qualified among Indian and senior people but they know nothing has changed with us. Nothing mattered before his qualification yet it was necessary for his career but now he had got the best education in the world and full potential to serve the downtrodden society. Bhimrao formed an association named Bahishkrit Hitakarini in 1924. This move to set up a hostel school for these libraries was followed by the Mahad Satyagraha in 1927. The story of a struggle that later inspired the entire Dalit community. Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar became the leader of not only Dalits but all the weaker communities. He had done a great favor then that he never gave up in the face of difficulties in his life but with his inspiration today on his birth anniversary he developed himself into such a great personality.
