CTET Exam 2024

The Central Teacher Eligibility Test (CTET) is a national-level examination conducted by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) in India. The primary objective of CTET is to assess the eligibility of candidates for teaching positions in central government schools, as well as in schools under the administrative control of Union Territories. The CTET exam is held twice a year, usually in the months of July and December.

CTET Eligibility Criteria:

Before applying for the CTET exam, candidates must ensure they meet the CTET Eligibility criteria set by the CBSE. The minimum educational qualifications for Paper-I (for classes I-V) and Paper-II (for classes VI-VIII) are as follows:

Paper I (for classes I-V):

– Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in the final year of 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education (D.El.Ed).
– Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 45% marks and passed or appearing in the final year of 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education (D.El.Ed), in accordance with the NCTE (Recognition Norms and Procedure), Regulations 2002.
– Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in the final year of 4-year Bachelor of Elementary Education (B.El.Ed).
– Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in the final year of 2-year Diploma in Education (Special Education).

Paper II (for classes VI-VIII):

– Graduation and passed or appearing in the final year of a 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education (D.El.Ed).
– Graduation with at least 50% marks and passing or appearing in 1-year Bachelor in Education (B.Ed).
– Graduation with at least 45% marks and passing or appearing in 1-year Bachelor in Education (B.Ed), in accordance with the NCTE (Recognition Norms and Procedure) Regulations.
– Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in the final year of 4-year Bachelor in Elementary Education (B.El.Ed).
– Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in the final year of 4-year B.A/B.Sc.Ed or B.A.Ed/B.Sc.Ed.
– Graduation with at least 50% marks and passing or appearing in 1-year B.Ed. (Special Education).

CTET Exam Pattern:

The CTET exam consists of two papers: Paper I and Paper II. Candidates interested in teaching classes from I to V need to appear for Paper I, while those interested in teaching classes from VI to VIII need to appear for Paper II. Candidates may choose to sit for both papers if necessary.

– Article I:

It consists of five parts with 30 questions worth a total of 150 points. These courses include Child Development and Education, Language I, Language II, Mathematics and Environmental Studies.

– Article II:

It also consists of five parts, but it is a little different. These departments include Child Development and Learning, Language I, Language II, Math and Science (for math and science teachers), and Science/Social Studies (for social studies/social studies).

CTET Syllabus:

The CTET syllabus is designed to assess the candidate’s knowledge and understanding of education and training-related topics. Courses include topics such as early childhood development and education, language arts, mathematics, environmental studies and social studies. Detailed information about the exam is provided by CBSE on the CTET website, and candidates are advised to read it carefully while preparing for the exam.

Application:

The application process for CTET is online. Candidates are required to log in to the CTET website and fill out the online application form. The form requests details such as personal information, educational qualifications, and test location selection. Candidates must also submit a photocopy of their photograph and signature. After completing the application, candidates are required to pay the application fee online or offline.

CTET Admit Card:

On successful application, CBSE will issue the CTET Admit Card at the Website. Candidates can download the admit card by entering their registration number and date of birth. The admit card contains basic information such as the candidate’s name, attendance number, exam venue information and exam date. You must have your ticket with you to enter the exam centre.

Exam Day:

On the day of the CTET exam 2024, candidates must bring a photocopy of their entry documents and a valid ID card. The exam will be held at different times and candidates are advised to arrive at the exam venue early. The question paper contains Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs) and candidates have to mark their answers on the OMR paper using a ballpoint pen.

Results and validity:

After completing the CTET exam, CBSE declares the result on its official website. Candidates will be able to check their results by entering their exam numbers. CTET certificate is valid for seven years from the date of declaration of results for all categories.
