7.  Why did Ram kill Lakshman? 

It is mentioned in the Ramayana that Lord Rama loved his younger brother Lakshmana, after all why Lord Rama gave death sentence to Lakshmana, this incident happened when independent Rama returned to Ayodhya after Rama’s victory. One day Yama Devta went to Shri Ram to discuss something important. Before starting the discussion, he told Lord Ram that you promise me that as long as there is a conversation between me and you, no one will come between us and whoever comes, you will have mercy on him. Lakshmana is then appointed as a gatekeeper not to let anyone in when he and Yama are talking, or else they will be put to death. After listening to brother Lakshmana, Lakshmana stood at the door and became Rama’s gatekeeper. After some time sage Durvasa arrived there and Durvasa asked Lakshmana to inform Rama about his arrival. 

      Laxman politely refused. At this Durvasa got angry and decided to curse the whole of Ayodhya. Lakshmana soon decided that he would have to sacrifice himself so that the people of Ayodhya could be saved from the sage’s curse, and went inside and informed Sri Rama of the sage’s arrival. Now Sri Rama is in a dilemma as he has to punish Lakshmana as per his wish. for his promise. In this confusion, Shri Ram remembered his Guru Vashishtha and Gurudev said that sacrificing his favorite thing to him is like you know that you sacrifice Lakshman to fulfill your promise, but as soon as Lakshman said to Ram That you should not leave here. I would rather embrace death than stay away from you. Saying this, Lakshmana took water samadhi.
